There are certain legal requirements for letterheads:
As a sole trader you can trade under your own name or, if you prefer, you can choose a business name. If you choose to trade under a business name that is not your own name, then you must include your own name and the business address on all letterheads.
If your business is a partnership then your letterheads must include the names of all partners and the address of the headquarters. If you prefer it is also acceptable to state where a list of partners may be found. 

  • If your business is a limited company the letterhead must include the following information:
  • The registered address and, if different, the address of your place of business,
  • The place of registration and company registration number
  • The registered company name
  • You are not required to include directors on your letterhead but if you do so you must include all of them.

Certain businesses may also face additional requirements but we suggest you seek the appropriate legal advice as the above information is only intended to aid you in your design process.
